For those that don’t know me, I’m Lynnette aka Nettio and I’m an Army wife, child-free, tech-lovin’ digital scrapbooker extraordinaire. This site is my digital home away from home where I share my adventures and misadventures in digital scrapbooking, technology and design, as well as fun ideas, tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way.

My Digital Scrapbooking Journey

In December 2005, I married my amazing Army officer husband Adam and literally a week later, we moved to our first ever duty station in the heart of Seoul, South Korea. To say it was a culture shock would be an understatement! Adam worked long hours and I found myself bored, lonely and desperately in need of something fun to do with my time. I had a DVD full of wedding photos that I wanted to do something with but given the limited supplies in Korea, paper scrapbooking didn’t exactly seem like a viable option. But I had studied both graphic and interior design in college and had worked as a layout artist for both my university paper and a publishing company so using computers for design was kind of my thing. So when I stumbled across a special all-digital issue of Simple Scrapbooks magazine, it seemed like a perfect match. Design+Stories+Computers=LOVE. I created my first digital scrapbooking layout in April 2006 and the rest, as they say, is history.

Over the course of the last five years, I’ve had the opportunity to scrapbook for a lot of amazing designers. Currently I’m a SugarBabe for Sweet Shoppe Designs and a Creative Team Member for the talented Zoe Pearn. In 2007, I was voted the winner of the Digital’s Next Top Scrapper competition at Peppermint Creative and in 2009, I was part of the winning Sweet Shoppe SugarBabe team in the Battle of the Creative Teams competition at DigiScrapAddicts. I have also been published in Scrapbooks Etc magazine and, later this year, will be published Creating Keepsakes magazine. Most recently, I was featured as the February Treat of the Month at Sweet Shoppe Designs (the first ever active SugarBabe to be featured) and was a contributer to the February Digi Files at The Daily Digi.

My Scrapbooking Perspective

When it comes to scrapbooking, I am all about keeping things stress free. Those “rules” about scrapbooking every photo/moment or being “caught up”? I don’t subscribe to any of them. I am all about encouraging everyone to embrace your own story, your own style, your own life and not worry about what everyone else is doing. After all, if you’re only doing what everyone else is doing, you’re just another face in the crowd. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and try something new – the results may surprise you.

I truly believe that everyone has a story worth sharing. Whether you’re single or married, a parent or child-free doesn’t matter. As a child-free digital scrapbooker for the last five years, I am sometimes asked about what in the world I would have to scrapbook about. My answer? My life! I don’t subscribe to the idea that any one time in my life is more “scrapworthy” than any other. Every little moment matters and my scrapbooks are just my way of documenting and processing my journey – the good, the bad, the quirky, the sad and yes, even the boring, hehe.

More than anything, I believe in the importance of making time to scrapbook one of the most important people in your life: YOU. Your spouse, your children, your family will all have their own memories of their lives but only you can share your own unique perspective. Yes I love technology, products, design and bold colors and patterns just as much as the next girl (and you can bet I will talk about that too!), but ultimately this is the heart of scrapbooking for me. I hope the ideas, tips and tricks I share here on the site will inspire you to embrace this as well.
