Happy Sweet Shoppe Saturday everyone! How’s your December going so far? Only 10 days until Christmas, can you believe it? Hmm…I may want to get started on that Christmas shopping…

Since I clearly already have Christmas on the brain, it seemed only fitting for my new release this weekend to be of the holiday variety as well. So when the lovely Kristin Cronin-Barrow over at Sweet Shoppe Designs asked for a holiday take on my Instagram-inspired templates, I was only too happy to oblige. This week’s release is what I came up with.

Insta-Love: Holiday

Insta-Love: Holiday is the third in my series of Instagram-inspired digital scrapbooking templates and features three 12×12-inch holiday-themed templates which are perfect for creatively capturing all your favorite holiday adventures and photos.

My team had a lot of fun playing with these templates this week but I especially loved the way Tracy used my December Countdown template to count down all the fun adventures their Elf-on-the-Shelf has been up to…totally makes me wish I had an elf of my own!

Hellllooo December! Hard to believe the final month of 2012 is actually here, right?

December is one of my favorite months of year, not only because Christmas is a fave holiday of mine but because I love that feeling of winding down for the year and then starting fresh with new plans & goals in January.

But before we get to the holidays and the start of the new year, there’s lot of fun stuff in the works. Here’s a few fun things happening this month that I wanted to make sure you knew about so you don’t miss out.

December at Masterful Scrapbook Design

I’m thrilled this month to be one of the guest teachers for December over at Masterful Scrapbook Design. This month’s theme is Layout and I along with 3 other awesome guest teachers are sharing all about our tried and true methods for layout design including how we approach things like white space, balance, overall composition and finding inspiration.

$12.50 for the month gets you access to a 200 page interactive e-zine, 4 guest teacher interviews (these are my favorite part of the class) and 4 “office hours” sessions where you can get feedback on your own work, which is really a great deal. Debbie Hodge does a great job of choosing guest teachers so the quality of the content in these classes is always fantastic – even as one of the teachers I always learn something new! Everyday Storyteller Holiday Gift Sale

Holiday Hiatus Dec 19th to Jan 6th

And finally, a little advance heads up for you: Nettio Designs will be taking an official holiday hiatus from December 19th thru Jan 6th, which means, no new products or blog post being released during that time and email responses will likely be slow. I’ll will be sharing my Holiday Faves mini album updates up until the 19th and then I’ll share the rest of the album when I return in January.

This is what I did last year and I found it was the best way for me to not only focus on spending the holidays with my family but also come back refreshed and ready to go in the new year. Of course, you’ll be able to follow my adventures on Instagram and Facebook during that time so I won’t be totally disappearing, haha.

New Release: Sweet Single No. 3 – Block It

Happy Sweet Shoppe Saturday everyone! This weekend I’m releasing the third in my new line of digital scrapbooking templates called Sweet Singles. Think of them as bite-sized template packs perfect for jumpstarting your creativity and dipping your toe into the Nettio Designs template pool.

Sweet Single No. 3: Block It

This week’s release, Sweet Single No. 3: Block It, features a repeating square-tastic design in my signature clean & modern paper-lovin’ style.

Here’s a closer peek at the layout I did with Sweet Single No. 3…

What I love most about this template is the pattern paper blocking. I designed it based off a quilt block but I love that it almost has a retro Tetris vibe to it. Considering how much I loved Tetris back in the day, it’s hard for me to picture the blocks without thinking about how I would turn them to fit them all in there, haha.

Plus the layered but clean design is great because it can really be used for any sort of story you want to capture. Just look at all the different ways Team Awesome scrapbooked with this template…

It’s Time for December Daily Nettio-Style, Round 2

Wow, November is half already half over! The holiday season will be here before we know which means it’s time for one of the scrapbooking projects I most look forward to every year: December Daily.

Back in 2010, I created a 7×9 mixed-sized paper mini book and I have to say I LOVED it. Of all the scrapbooking projects and layouts I completed in 2010, my December Daily album is the one I never stopped thinking about.

There is just something magical about putting together the foundation of the album ahead of time and then seeing it fill up with memories over the course of the holiday season.

But in thinking about my December Daily plan for 2011, I realized there were a few things about the album that didn’t work for me: the daily-ness of December Daily, the mixed-sized pages and the lack of any digital goodness.

So last year I came up with a new plan for my not-so-daily December Daily mini book which I lovingly called the Holiday Faves. It was a 5×7 hybrid mini album complete with foundation pages which I printed and then filled up with goodness over the Holiday season.

And I have to admit, I may have done a happy dance or two in excitement over it because it worked out even better than I’d hoped.

Which brings me to today’s Sweet Shoppe Saturday New Release!

The Holiday Faves 5×7 Mini Album Templates Vol. 2

Yes, the Holiday Faves 5×7 Mini Album templates are back with an all-new more awesome design combined with the same hybrid 5×7-inch tree-saving style!

And I could not be more excited. Seriously, lots of oh-so-excited (and occasionally awkward, I’m sure) happy dances going on over here, haha. Especially knowing just how well the Holiday Faves worked out for me last year.

You can read about all the details of the Holiday Faves 5×7 Mini Album Templates here at Sweet Shoppe Designs but here are a few specific things I want to point out:

The mini album templates are 5×7 inches which for me is the perfect balance of size and at-home printability since you can print 2 5×7 pages on a single 8.5×11 pages. Woohoo for saving trees!
I designed the templates to be a starting point for building your Holiday album foundations pages so I kept the design simple so you can dress them up or down depending on your personal style. The goal is to let your photos, memorabilia and memories take center stage.
I will be going with a Holiday Faves theme for my album with my plan being to document my top ten favorite things from this Holiday season (with the backup plan being if I only get to say, 5, it’ll be ok). But if you’re not a Faves fiend like I am, haha, I also included a “Holiday Memories” cover and journaling option as well a list of the fonts I used so you can customize your own.
One thing I missed from December Daily last year was capturing a few of the more broad holiday themes, like decorations, music, etc so this year I’ve included 8 additional more general holiday-themed journaling cards for documenting those stories.

What’s really cool about these templates is not only can you use these mini album templates for creating your own Holiday album but I will be using them to create my own album as well.

And starting next week here on the blog, I will be sharing more details on how I’m personally using these templates to create the foundation for my own Holiday Faves album and of course throughout December I’ll be showing how it all comes together as well. It’s going to be fun so I hope you’ll come scrap along with me!
