The kids are back in school, your Facebook friends have started posting pumpkin spice latte memes but you’re still facing 90 degree days and a heap of summer photos you’d like to get scrapped.
Well you could allow this year’s summer memories to fade into obliviion, waiting on your hard drive for the day inspiration strikes and you magically have time to do something with them…
Hi, I’m Lynnette Penacho-Jackman, graphic designer, tech-lovin’ memory keeper and creator of The Faves Project.
Ten years ago I started digital scrapbooking and quickly got sucked into the world of holiday mini album scrapbooking. After several failed attempts at creating a daily holiday mini album, I knew there had to be a better way. So in 2010 I set out to create my own system, one that would combine my love of mini albums and digital scrapbooking, while still allowing me to enjoy the holidays stress-free.
The result was Holiday Faves. Since then The Faves Project has become my go-to system for getting my seasonal photos scrapped and now it can be your fave too.
TIME is always going to be your greatest enemy.
There will always another home task/project/family matter to draw your attention away. And sadly, there’s no magic time fairy on her way to bestow the gift of “finding time” or “making time” onto you.
No more worrying about capturing daily details or getting behind, the focus here is simply on capturing your top ten favorite things from the summer, using all the digital scrapbooking supplies you already love.
In Summer Faves, we’ll spend 4 weeks together scrapbooking a 30-page 8×8 album page by page. Each week is broken down into a doable number of pages so you’re able to make progress without stressing out. By the end of class your Summer Faves album will ready to send off to print, just in time for moving into fall!
- an exclusive set of 8×8-inch mini album Photoshop templates with everything you need to create a 31 page Summer Faves album
- a 4-week accountability class where I will be scrapbooking my own Summer Faves album right alongside you
- the Faves Project interactive planning guide for tracking your progress
- weekly emails from me with words of encouragement and inspiration
- access to a private community where you can share your work
As soon as you sign up for the 2019 Summer Faves Project, you’ll receive an email with a download link to this year’s Summer Faves 8×8-inch Mini Album templates. Each template file is labeled in page order so the foundation of your album is already planned – no more stressing about which page should go where.
One of the hardest parts of creating a multi-page album is planning out how you’re going to get the work done – which is why I do this part for you! On Tuesday, August 27 our 4-week Summer Faves Class will begin. Each week of Summer Faves is broken down into a doable number of pages so you’re making progress without stressing out. Follow the plan as laid out for you and you’ll have a finished album by the end of class on September 23, the last day of summer!
The best part of following The Faves Project system is that all YOU have to do is show up and scrap your pages – which really is the most fun part! I also will be scrapbooking my own Summer Faves right alongside you and will be sharing my own progress on my album every Friday. When our time together ends on Monday, September 23, your album will be ready for print!
Here’s what other Faves Project students have to say about why the Faves are their fave…
The Faves Project is a great way to document those seasonal memories and ensure that the season doesn’t slip away, without taking a lot of time or energy. The templates are easy to complete, with a simple cohesive design that looks great with or without embellishments.
Lynnette, you are a GENIUS. These album planning worksheets are going to completely change the way I digi-scrap! I have a neurotic need to know where I am on the road to finishing an album and these worksheets are totally doing it for me. Seeing those thumbnails go from greyscale to color is almost more satisfying than putting a checkmark on a to-do list.
I love the planning guides for figuring out how the book will come together before I get to the loading it up on the website part.
I’m a visual person and love using the worksheets and seeing the overall plan mapped out.
I love having that album summarizing the season sitting on the shelf. The graphic-style helps keep the scrapping simple and still gives you creative freedom to dress things up in whatever way makes you happy.
My top three fave things about the Faves: the templates, the group camaraderie and the fact that it’s DOABLE.
Yeah, I’m a Nettio project addict. They are totally do-able and I look forward to working on them.
Who is the Summer Faves Project for?
Summer Faves is for any tech-lovin’ memory keeper who’s interested in creating their very own list-lovin’ summer mini album. If you love the idea of creating a mini album but want something a bit more easy and doable than what you’ve tried in the past, I have confidence the Summer Faves Project is the right solution for you.
Do I need to be a digital scrapbooker to participate in the Summer Faves Project?
Because the Summer Faves includes digital scrapbooking templates and a fairly quick timeline, you’ll get the most out of it if you are familiar with the basics of digital scrapbooking and using a Photoshop template.
Does it matter if I use a Mac or a PC?
Nope! All tech-lovin’ memory keepers are welcome. I’m a Mac user with a strong PC background if it helps.
Will you consider offering your templates in (insert your chosen format) as well?
In order to keep things simple, the Summer Faves templates are only available in Photoshop (.PSD) format.
Do the Summer Faves templates include any drop shadowing?
Some of the templates include basic drop shadowing and layer styling which can be easily customized or removed. The design of the templates are kept fairly simple so that you can add your own style!
What size are the Summer Faves templates?
The Summer Faves templates are 8×8 inches.
I’d like to create my album at 12×12. Can I size up the templates?
Because the layers in the templates are flattened, I do not recommend sizing up the templates themselves. However, you can pretty easily print a 12×12 sized image from an 8×8 image without any quality loss.
How do I print my completed album?
Once you’ve completed your pages in Photoshop, you will save your layouts as flattened JPG images which can then be printed as a photo book through your favorite photo book company or printed as single layouts which can be added into any traditional scrapbooking album.
What does the schedule for the 2019 Summer Faves look like?
Summer Faves will run from Tuesday, August 27th to Monday, September 23rd. Once class begins, you will receive an email from me about how to access class lessons and join our private community.
When does registration for the 2019 Summer Faves end?
Registration ends Tuesday, August 27 at 10AM Pacific. Your first official class email will go out shortly after.
Does the class meet at a certain time? Does it matter what part of the world I’m in?
Summer Faves is 100% virtual so you can participate from anywhere at anytime.
How are payments handled?
Payment is securely processed via PayPal or Stripe.
What happens after I sign up?
After you’ve signed up for Summer Faves, you’ll receive three emails: one with a receipt, one with a link to download your templates and a third email from me welcoming you to Summer Faves.
Help! I signed up but never received an email with my downloads!
First step, check your spam folder and behind the Gmail Promotions or Updates tab if you’re a Gmail Tabs user, as occasionally overzealous spam filters will flag the links in the download email. If after a few hours, you still haven’t received your download link, contact me and I’ll be happy to get it sorted for you.

- Because a top ten list is one of the easiest forms of journaling you can do. For real.
- Because a list of your Faves will say more about you than a travel/event layout ever will.
- Because you don’t remember nearly as much stuff as you think you do.
- Because holding a physical book of your favorite summer adventures in your hot little hands is sure to be your new fave.
- Because what you love captures who you are
