Summer is here which means sunshine-y days, summer fun and well…not a whole lot of time for anything else, especially if you’re a mom and your kids are home from school.
Well you could allow this year’s summer memories and photos to languish on your hard drive hoping for the day inspiration strikes and you magically “have time” to do something with them…
In this digital scrapbooking project class starting Tuesday June 27th, we will spend nine weeks together with the goal of having a completed Summer Faves mini album by the end of class on August 31st.
At just four mini digital scrapbooking pages a week (with one catch-up week if you need it),
it’s totally doable, totally easy and totally fun.
- Because a top ten list is one of the easiest forms of journaling you can do. For real.
- Because a list of your Faves will say more about you than a travel/event layout ever will.
- Because you don’t remember nearly as much stuff as you think you do.
- Because holding a physical book of your favorite summer adventures in your hot little hands is sure to be your new fave.
- Because doing something creative just for you this summer with help you keep your sanity.
- Because scrapbooking with friends is always more fun.
My top three fave things about the Faves: the templates, the group camaraderie
and the fact that it’s DOABLE.

Hi, I’m Lynnette Penacho-Jackman, graphic designer, tech-lovin’ memory keeper and creator of The Faves Project.
Ten years ago I started digital scrapbooking and quickly got sucked into the world of holiday mini album scrapbooking. After several failed attempts at creating a daily holiday mini album, I knew there had to be a better way. So in 2010 I set out to create my own system, one that would combine my love of mini albums and digital scrapbooking, while still allowing me to enjoy the holidays stress-free.
The result was Holiday Faves. And this year I’m taking everything I love about Holiday Faves and putting a summer lovin’ spin on it with the 2017 Summer Faves Project.
Who is the Summer Faves Project for?
The Summer Faves Project is for any tech-lovin’ memory keeper who’s interested in creating their very own list-lovin’ summer mini album. If you love the idea of creating a mini album but want something a bit more easy and doable than what you’ve tried in the past, I have confidence the Summer Faves Project is the right solution for you.
Do I need to be a digital scrapbooker to participate in the Summer Faves Project?
Because the Summer Faves Project includes digital scrapbooking templates, you’ll get the most out of it if you are open to hybrid or digital scrapbooking. But new scrapbookers are always welcome!
I’m new to digital scrapbooking, can I still sign up?
Absolutely! The Summer Faves Project is a great first project if you’re interested in giving digital or hybrid scrapbooking a try. I’ll be more than happy to answer any questions you might have along the way.
What digital skills do I need to know to participate?
A basic understanding of Photoshop layers and clipping masks will help but is not required. I’ll be more than happy to answer any questions you may have if you’re new to digital scrapbooking.
What software do I need to use the mini album templates?
You’ll need a program that can handle and manipulate a layered Photoshop (.PSD) file.
Does it matter if I use a Mac or a PC?
Nope! All tech-lovin’ memory keepers are welcome. I’m a Mac user with a strong PC background if it helps.
Will you consider offering your templates in (insert your chosen format) as well?
In order to keep things simple, the Summer Faves templates are only available in Photoshop (.PSD) format.
Do the Summer Faves templates include any drop shadowing?
Some of the templates include basic drop shadowing and layer styling which can be easily customized or removed.
What size are the Summer Faves templates?
The Summer Faves templates are 8×8 inches. You can either print your mini album as 8×8 or it can be scaled down to 6×6 inches if you’d like something smaller.
How do I print my completed album?
Once you’ve completed your pages in Photoshop, you will save your layouts as flattened JPG images which can then be printed as a photo book through your favorite photo book company or printed as single layouts which can be added into any traditional scrapbooking album.
What does the schedule for the 2017 Summer Faves Project look like?
The 2017 Summer Faves Project will run from Tuesday, June 27th to Thursday, August 31st. The classroom opens Tue, Jun 27th then every Thursday you will receive an email from me where I will share my pages and then invite you to create and share your pages over the next week.
Our focus will be on creating 4 pages (two two-page spreads) a week following this schedule:
- Tue Jun 27 – Classroom opens
- Thu Jun 29-Jul 5 – Pages 1-4 (bucket list, intro)
- Thu Jul 6-13 – Pages 5-8 (Faves 1 & 2)
- Thu Jul 13-20 – Pages 9-12 (Faves 3 & 4)
- Thu Jul 20-27 – Pages 13-16 (Faves 5 & 6)
- Thu Jul 27-Aug 3 – Break (catchup week)
- Thu Aug 3-10 – Pages 17-20 (Faves 7 & 8)
- Thu Aug 10-17 – Pages 21-24 (Faves 9 & 10)
- Thu Aug 17-24 – Pages 25-27 & cover
- Thu Aug 24-31 – Complete & print mini album
- Thu Aug 31 – Class officially ends
What if I’m on vacation during part of the class? Can I still participate?
Absolutely! Although we will be following a schedule in the class, you can absolutely work at your own pace as well. There will also be one break week included in the course which you can use to catch up on any pages you’ve missed. This is also why we’re only working on four mini pages a week (two two-page spreads) – even if you miss a week or two, it’s still easy to catch up.
When does registration for the 2017 Summer Faves Project end?
Registration ends Monday, June 26th. Class begins Tuesday, June 27th.
Does the class meet at a certain time? Does it matter what part of the world I’m in?
Holiday Faves is 100% virtual so you can participate from anywhere at anytime.
How are payments handled?
Payment is securely processed via PayPal and can be made using your PayPal balance or credit card.
What happens after I sign up?
After you’ve signed up for the 2017 Summer Faves Project, you’ll receive three emails: one with a receipt, one with a link to download your templates and a third email from me with details on what to expect in the class.
Help! I signed up but never received an email with my downloads!
First step, check your spam folder and behind the Gmail Promotions or Updates tab if you’re a Gmail Tabs user, as occasionally overzealous spam filters will flag the links in the download email. If after a few hours, you still haven’t received your download link, contact me and I’ll be happy to get it sorted for you.

Lynnette, you are a GENIUS. These album planning worksheets are going to completely change the way I digi-scrap! I have a neurotic need to know where I am on the road to finishing an album and these worksheets are totally doing it for me. Seeing those thumbnails go from greyscale to color is almost more satisfying than putting a checkmark on a to-do list.
